NetSuite Next is Oracle's next-generation NetSuite experience. It began rolling out with the 2026.2 release and is being made available in phases to customers in the United States and Canada, with additional countries planned. NetSuite Next brings a redesigned user experience built on Oracle's Redwood Design System, a conversational AI assistant called Ask Oracle, and AI-powered capabilities embedded across the suite. For manufacturers and distributors, the practical questions are how NetSuite Next affects the customizations, integrations, saved searches, and role-based workflows behind order, inventory, and financial processes, and when to enable it.
Snapshot has worked as a NetSuite Alliance Partner for more than 12 years, helping manufacturers and distributors navigate platform changes and evaluate how new capabilities affect their environments.
NetSuite Next centers on two changes that manufacturers and distributors will see once their account is updated to 2026.2, and NetSuite Next is available for their account. The same release also includes finance enhancements worth evaluating alongside it.
The redesigned user interface is built on Oracle's Redwood Design System. Navigation is redesigned, and records, lists, and reports are updated. Your data, roles, permissions, customizations, and workflows stay the same, and no data migration or reimplementation is needed. Administrators manage access and can set each eligible role to NetSuite Next Only, Optional, or No access, so teams can move over in stages. Roles associated with the Advanced Partner Center, Customer Center, Employee Center, Partner Center, and Vendor Center are not eligible for NetSuite Next.
Ask Oracle is a conversational AI assistant in NetSuite that lets users ask questions, analyze data, and generate reports using natural language. For example, a user could ask for overdue invoices over $10,000 from customers in a specific sales region and see the results in the chat, without first building a saved search or navigating to a specific report. What Ask Oracle returns depends on the data and fields in your account and on the user's permissions.
For manufacturers and distributors whose operations and finance teams rely on saved searches built by administrators, Ask Oracle can reduce routine requests for new searches. Once an administrator grants their role access, users can ask questions about data they are already permitted to see. By default, roles do not have access to Ask Oracle. Ask Oracle operates within existing roles and permissions, so it cannot access or act beyond what the user is authorized to do. Ask Oracle usage consumes NetSuite AI Units. Included allocations vary by eligible license and environment, and additional AI Unit packages may need to be purchased as usage grows, so administrators should review their account's allocation and usage as part of enablement planning.
Ask Oracle is also available outside NetSuite Next. When Ask Oracle is available for your account, administrators can set it up in the current NetSuite experience and grant access by role, without activating NetSuite Next. Organizations can start using Ask Oracle in their existing environment and adopt the full NetSuite Next experience when they are ready.
The 2026.2 release also includes finance enhancements worth reviewing as part of your broader NetSuite AI planning. An AI transaction matching assistant in bank reconciliation recommends a likely GL transaction when several matches are possible, and Intelligent Flux Analysis helps accountants and controllers explain why account balances changed between reporting periods.
For end users, the redesigned interface is the most visible change. Navigation is redesigned, and records, lists, and reports look different from the current NetSuite experience. Users who have worked in NetSuite for years will need time to adjust, and a structured training plan by role reduces the friction of that transition. Administrators should plan for a period where users are learning the new interface while continuing to process transactions on the same schedule.
Ask Oracle changes how non-technical users interact with NetSuite data. Finance team members who previously asked a NetSuite administrator for a new saved search can ask Ask Oracle directly, as long as their role has access and they have permission to the underlying data. Operations managers who need to pull data on inventory positions, open purchase orders, or AR aging by customer can request it conversationally. Because vague terms such as "open" or "delayed" can return unexpected results, users should use precise record types and statuses and review answers against the underlying data before relying on them for decisions.
NetSuite Next runs on the same platform and the same account data as the current experience. Transactions are stored in the same underlying account, so records saved in one experience are visible in the other. Scripts, custom records, workflows, and other customizations are expected to continue working, although some client scripts, form customizations, or portlet scripts that directly manipulate HTML or page structure may need review. NetSuite Next supports the same connectivity and integrations as the current NetSuite experience.
NetSuite Next readiness for manufacturers and distributors comes down to four evaluation areas:
Oracle's NetSuite Next FAQ says scripts, custom records, workflows, and other customizations are expected to continue working, but some client scripts, form customizations, or portlet scripts that directly manipulate HTML or page structure may need review. Test these in a NetSuite Next Preview Account before enabling NetSuite Next in production.
Snapshot also recommends testing Suitelet-based pages and any other UI-level customizations your teams rely on, such as custom order entry, receiving, or fulfillment screens.
A NetSuite Next Preview Account is a copy of your production account that includes a snapshot of your data, workflows, and customizations using the NetSuite Next experience. Access lasts 30 days, and administrators can request a new preview account at any time. It is separate from the Release Preview account used to test upcoming NetSuite releases.
NetSuite Next supports the same connectivity and integrations as the current NetSuite experience, including pre-built NetSuite Connectors, custom integrations built through SuiteCloud, and the NetSuite Integration Platform.
Snapshot also recommends testing integrations or automations that depend on the NetSuite user interface, such as browser-based automation or screen scraping, because the redesigned navigation, records, and lists can change the page elements these tools rely on.
Because NetSuite Next updates records, lists, and reports, review critical saved searches, SuiteAnalytics workbooks, and dashboards in a NetSuite Next Preview Account before rolling out to users.
Confirm that formatting, drill-through behavior, and dashboard placement work as expected for the operational reports your teams rely on most, such as inventory availability, open purchase orders, backorders, and AR aging.
NetSuite Next does not need to be enabled for every role at once. Administrators can set a pilot group's roles to NetSuite Next only or Optional, collect feedback, and expand access as the team adjusts.
Choosing a pilot group that includes at least one user from finance, operations (such as purchasing or the warehouse), and sales helps validate a representative set of workflows before broader rollout.
For the detailed testing process, see our NetSuite Next Readiness Checklist for Admins post.
The decision to enable NetSuite Next depends on three factors specific to each environment: customization complexity, integration footprint, and team readiness for change.
Manufacturers and distributors running standard NetSuite configurations with limited UI-level customization and no browser-dependent integrations can enable NetSuite Next with lower risk after testing in a NetSuite Next Preview Account.
Organizations with extensive SuiteScript customizations, complex integration architectures, or large user bases where training coordination takes time may prefer to complete preview testing and role-based training before activating NetSuite Next in production. Because preview access lasts 30 days, plan your testing window before requesting a NetSuite Next Preview Account, and request a new one if you need more time. Testing critical workflows and building a training plan during this period helps your organization prepare to enable NetSuite Next when the timing is right. Snapshot recommends a phased rollout by role regardless of timing, since it limits the scope of any issues that emerge and gives administrators time to address them before the full user base is affected.
Organizations that want to use Ask Oracle before enabling the full NetSuite Next experience can do so. When Ask Oracle is available for your account, administrators can set it up in the current NetSuite experience and grant access by role, allowing teams to build familiarity with conversational AI while the broader NetSuite Next evaluation continues.
Oracle announced agentic workflows for NetSuite Next at SuiteWorld 2025, citing tasks such as payment proposals, vendor selection, reconciliations, and supply chain operations, with users able to approve key decisions or allow agents to act autonomously. The 2026.2 release also adds agent-driven orchestration to NetSuite Integration Platform, included with NetSuite Integration Platform Enterprise. NetSuite Integration Platform is an add-on module, and Oracle notes its AI capabilities may require OCI AI service credits. Availability, licensing requirements, and production readiness vary by capability, so manufacturers and distributors should monitor Oracle's release notes and validate new capabilities outside production before relying on them.
NetSuite Next is a significant evolution of the NetSuite experience, and manufacturers and distributors who prepare their environments, test thoroughly, and plan their rollout by role can adopt it with less operational disruption.
With more than 12 years as a NetSuite Alliance Partner, Snapshot helps manufacturers and distributors evaluate NetSuite Next readiness and build an adoption plan that fits their environment.
