What Does NetSuite Next Mean for Your Business?

The North America rollout of NetSuite Next began with the 2026.2 release in July 2026, with accounts upgraded on a staggered schedule through the fall. Administrators can activate NetSuite Next and grant access by role from within their existing account. NetSuite Next is included in existing NetSuite subscriptions, and no data migration or reimplementation is required. For manufacturers and distributors, this means the system your team depends on is gaining AI-powered capabilities without disrupting the workflows already in place.

Snapshot is a NetSuite Alliance Partner with more than 12 years of experience helping manufacturers, distributors, and operationally complex businesses get more from their NetSuite investment. We help organizations assess where their environment stands today and close the gaps that determine how much value NetSuite Next delivers.

What's Included in NetSuite Next?

NetSuite Next introduces four interconnected capabilities that together change how users experience and interact with the platform. Each is grounded in the data and configuration inside your NetSuite account.

The Redwood Experience

The Redwood experience is a redesign of the NetSuite interface built on Oracle's Redwood Design System. Updated navigation, records, lists, reports, forms, and layouts give users a cleaner, more intuitive way to work in NetSuite. The Redwood experience is available now as a per-user toggle in accounts updated to 2026.2, with administrators controlling which roles receive access. Oracle has indicated that the classic interface will be phased out over time, though no firm retirement date has been published.

Existing data, configurations, and supported customizations carry forward to the Redwood experience. Customizations that rely on direct DOM access or manipulation may behave differently and should be tested in a dedicated NetSuite Next preview account before activating for production roles.

Redwood NetSuite UX

Ask Oracle

Ask Oracle is the conversational AI assistant at the center of NetSuite Next. Users can search, navigate, analyze, and act on NetSuite data using natural language, without building saved searches or running manual report exports. Ask Oracle returns context-aware answers, generates reports, and supports navigation across the system, all within each user's existing roles and permissions.

Ask Oracle operates entirely within your NetSuite environment. It respects existing role-based access controls, so the scope of what each user can query reflects what they can already see in the system. Source citations accompany each response, allowing users to validate answers and drill into the underlying data.

Ask Oracle consumes NetSuite AI Units. Eligible user licenses include an allocation of AI Units at no additional cost, and additional units can be purchased as usage grows.

Ask Oracle is also available as a companion feature for existing US and Canada accounts before they switch to the full NetSuite Next experience.

Canvas

Canvas is a dedicated workspace within NetSuite Next where users can build ad hoc dashboards, visualizations, and analyses. Teams can organize summaries, KPI scorecards, charts, graphs, tables, and narrative text into a single view without relying on static saved searches or manually assembled reports. Canvas gives finance, operations, and leadership teams a flexible workspace for exploring and presenting NetSuite data outside the constraints of standard dashboards.

Agentic Workflows

NetSuite Next introduces agentic workflow capabilities that allow AI to act within the system. These capabilities are designed to automate complex, multi-step tasks such as payment proposals, vendor selection, reconciliations, and supply chain operations. Select agentic capabilities are available now, with more rolling out through 2026 and into 2027. Oracle has not published a complete timeline for all agentic features, and capabilities in preview or phased rollout should be treated accordingly rather than assumed to be fully available.

How the Transition to NetSuite Next Works

Activating NetSuite Next does not disrupt the system your teams depend on. Existing data, roles, permissions, workflows, and supported customizations remain in place. Administrators control the pace and scope of the transition by enabling NetSuite Next access by role, so different teams can move at different speeds based on readiness and operational priority.

Shortly after an account is updated to NetSuite 2026.2, administrators will see options to request a dedicated NetSuite Next preview account or activate NetSuite Next in production. The preview account contains a copy of your data, roles, workflows, and customizations, giving teams a safe environment to explore the new experience before enabling it for broader use.

The organizations that benefit most from NetSuite Next have kept their system in good shape before making the switch. Messy data, drifted role permissions, unmaintained integrations, and legacy customizations do not block activation, but they do limit what Ask Oracle, Canvas, and agentic workflows can reliably deliver.

Why Data and System Quality Matter More Than Ever

NetSuite Next capabilities are only as strong as the data behind them. The quality of that underlying data directly determines how reliable, accurate, and useful each of these capabilities will be in practice.

Organizations with duplicate records, inconsistent field values, drifted role permissions, and unmaintained integrations will see those issues reflected in NetSuite Next outputs. An AI assistant that returns answers based on incomplete or inconsistent data creates more confusion than clarity. The preparation work required for a smooth NetSuite Next transition also improves how the system performs today, before the upgrade.

Snapshot helps organizations assess the current state of their NetSuite environment and close the gaps that limit what NetSuite Next can deliver. For organizations that have not yet invested in NetSuite AI readiness, the NetSuite Next rollout is a practical reason to start.

How Snapshot Helps You Prepare for NetSuite Next

NetSuite Next preparation is a structured review of the system your team has built over time, identifying what is working and what needs attention before the capabilities of NetSuite Next can deliver reliable value.

Snapshot works with NetSuite customers to prepare for NetSuite Next across several areas:

Data quality assessment and cleanup

Ask Oracle and Canvas are only as useful as the data they draw from. Snapshot reviews master data across customers, vendors, items, and transactions, standardizes field values, resolves duplicate records, and ensures the records most frequently referenced in daily operations are accurate and complete.

Customization and script review

Existing SuiteScript customizations carry forward to NetSuite Next, but customizations that rely on direct DOM access may behave differently with the Redwood experience. Snapshot inventories active scripts, identifies those that require testing or remediation, and reviews third-party SuiteApps for 2026.2 compatibility.

Role and permissions audit

Ask Oracle operates within each user's existing roles and permissions. Roles that have drifted beyond their intended scope can cause Ask Oracle to return a broader or narrower view of data than intended. Snapshot reviews and rationalizes active roles before NetSuite Next access is expanded.

Integration review

Snapshot audits active integrations, reviews connector logs for recurring issues, and confirms that integration partners are aware of the upgrade timeline and have no known compatibility concerns with 2026.2.

Training and change management

The Redwood experience is a meaningful visual change for everyday users, and Ask Oracle introduces a new way of interacting with the system. Snapshot supports training plans and change management, so adoption is deliberate rather than reactive.

NetSuite Next for Snapshot's Core Industries

Manufacturers and distributors stand to benefit meaningfully from NetSuite Next, particularly from Ask Oracle's ability to return operational insights from the high volumes of transactional data these organizations generate.

For a distribution operation managing thousands of SKUs across multiple locations, Ask Oracle reduces the time between a question and a reliable answer. Rather than building saved searches or exporting data to spreadsheets, purchasing managers, operations leaders, and finance teams can query their NetSuite data directly in natural language. Inventory positions, open purchase orders, overdue invoices, and fulfillment performance become accessible without technical configuration.

Distribution and manufacturing operations that have run NetSuite for several years often carry accumulated data debt, including duplicate vendor records, inconsistent item descriptions, and role permissions that have expanded over time. Snapshot addresses those issues in the context of NetSuite Next preparation, improving the system for daily operations at the same time.

Snapshot primarily supports manufacturers, distributors, and operationally complex businesses across industries including commercial landscaping, landscape supply, industrial distribution, agricultural supply, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical supply, construction and building supply, consumer goods, and food and beverage distribution.
