How Innovative Uniform Solutions connected their Shopify storefront to NetSuite and enabled complex product personalization
About Innovative Uniform Solutions
Innovative Uniform Solutions is a Long Beach, California-based retailer supplying uniforms, workwear, duty gear, and related equipment to security professionals, law enforcement officers, and public safety personnel. With embroidery, screen printing, tailoring, and custom production all handled in-house, IUS built its reputation on fast turnaround and consistent quality across a catalog that extends from base garments to custom patches, name tapes, and metal nameplates. As the business grew, the absence of a connection between Shopify and NetSuite left orders, inventory, and product data without a coordinated operational foundation. IUS partnered with Snapshot to implement a fully integrated Shopify B2C storefront connected to their NetSuite ERP environment via Celigo.
Project Overview
Innovative Uniform Solutions needed more than a functioning Shopify store. With a catalog spanning garments, duty gear, and personalized products across dozens of size and color variants, the business needed to support complex product configuration online while keeping orders, inventory, and fulfillment connected to NetSuite.
IUS partnered with Snapshot to rebuild their Shopify B2C storefront from the ground up and connect it to NetSuite through Celigo. Snapshot guided the team through personalization app selection and configuration, translating loosely defined customization requirements for logos, embroidered names, nameplates, hemming, striping, and made-to-order patches into product-level rules that worked end to end. In parallel, Snapshot configured Celigo integration flows for orders, products, inventory, and order status updates, and built a dedicated supplier inventory sync making SanMar-sourced item availability visible online while keeping IUS's NetSuite-centered operating model intact.
The result was a connected storefront that brought Innovative Uniform Solution’s in-house customization expertise online, with guided personalization for customers and integrated back-office operations that had previously been running in isolation.
The Solution
Storefront Implementation
Snapshot opened the engagement with discovery, documenting requirements and evaluating theme options prior to configuration work. Once the direction was set, the team configured the Shopify store, installed and styled the selected theme, and built out a development environment for controlled iteration. Snapshot implemented customizations to support IUS's catalog structure and customer experience, and the teams coordinated large product and image refreshes during launch preparation, ensuring the store was populated and ready for go-live.

Shopify-NetSuite Integration via Celigo
Celigo connects Shopify and NetSuite across the data flows IUS depends on for operations:
- Orders placed on Shopify create corresponding sales orders in NetSuite.
- Product records and inventory levels flow from NetSuite back to Shopify to keep the storefront current.
- Shipment and order status updates move from NetSuite to Shopify, so customers receive accurate fulfillment information.
- Snapshot mapped shipping and pickup methods between systems, standardized color swatches, and authenticated the sending domain.
After launch, Snapshot investigated and resolved any product sync issues during a stabilization period before the IUS team took over ongoing management.
Product Personalization
IUS's uniform catalog requires personalization support across a range of product types, from embroidered names and logo placement on garments to custom metal nameplates, hemming selections, striping add-ons, and made-to-order patch designs. Each option must function correctly across the product page, cart, checkout, NetSuite sales order, and fulfillment process.
Snapshot evaluated personalization applications against IUS's real products, ran iterative prototypes to expose gaps early, and held live working sessions with the IUS team to review product lists, resolve questions in real time, and build hands-on familiarity with the configuration model. Repeatable templates and product-level setup patterns brought consistency to a catalog that still required individual configuration and validation across many items. Throughout, Snapshot validated how personalization details traveled into the NetSuite sales order so the fulfillment team could see exactly what was needed to produce and ship each customized item.
Supplier Inventory Sync
IUS offers selected items sourced through SanMar, a supplier whose stock is not held internally. Showing accurate availability for those products online while keeping orders flowing through NetSuite's standard fulfillment process called for a dedicated inventory workflow running on its own cadence.
Snapshot configured a scheduled SanMar supplier inventory sync aligned to the supplier's daily update schedule. Supplier-specific identifiers tied vendor-backed items to the correct catalog records in both systems, accounting for matrix products, size and color variants, and mixed scenarios where IUS stocked certain variants internally while SanMar supplied others. When supplier ID discrepancies and sync errors appeared during stabilization, Snapshot identified the root causes, corrected item relationships and SKU mismatches, re-ran affected syncs, and cleared the errors before go-live.
The Impact: A Connected, Personalized Experience
IUS launched its new Shopify storefront in February 2026 with the core commerce and ERP workflows in place. Customers shopping for personalized products now move through a structured, guided experience. Supplier-backed items display accurate availability. Orders, inventory, and fulfillment updates flow between Shopify and NetSuite without manual intervention. Snapshot also left the IUS team equipped to manage product configurations and monitor integration flows on their own. In a post-launch check-in, IUS confirmed operations had been running smoothly since launch.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does a Shopify NetSuite integration via Celigo include?
A Shopify NetSuite integration via Celigo connects the two platforms through configured data flows covering orders, products, inventory, and order status updates. When a customer places an order on Shopify, Celigo creates the corresponding sales order in NetSuite. NetSuite pushes product records and inventory levels back to Shopify to keep the storefront current. Shipment tracking and order status updates flow from NetSuite to Shopify, so customers receive accurate fulfillment information. Celigo provides pre-built integration flows as a starting point, but a working implementation requires configuration, field mapping, authentication, and testing tailored to the specific business. Snapshot configures and manages these workflows as a NetSuite Alliance Partner with direct experience across Shopify and NetSuite implementations.
-
How does product personalization work on a Shopify storefront connected to NetSuite?
Product personalization on Shopify requires customer inputs collected on the product page to travel through the cart, checkout, and into NetSuite as structured order data the fulfillment team can act on. For a uniform retailer, logo placement, embroidery text and color selections, nameplate engraving options, hemming choices, and add-on items like striping all need to be represented as orderable line items or order attributes that NetSuite can receive and interpret. A working implementation requires selecting an application that supports the personalization scenarios the business needs, configuring it against the actual product catalog, and validating that the data structure works end to end before launch. Snapshot guides clients through application selection, configuration, prototype testing, and order data validation to ensure personalization works across the full order lifecycle.
-
Can Shopify display inventory from third-party suppliers?
Shopify can display supplier-backed inventory when a scheduled integration pulls availability data from the supplier and updates the corresponding product records. For SanMar, Snapshot configures a scheduled sync aligned to the supplier's daily update cadence, separate from more frequent internal inventory updates. Supplier-specific identifiers link vendor-backed items to the correct catalog records in both Shopify and NetSuite, so orders for those items enter the standard NetSuite fulfillment process and move through back-office operations as expected. Snapshot accounts for matrix items, size and color variants, and mixed scenarios where some variants are stocked internally while others are supplier-sourced.
-
What should a business expect from a Shopify NetSuite integration project?
A Shopify NetSuite integration project covers discovery, system configuration, data mapping, integration setup, testing, and launch support. Discovery establishes what data needs to move between systems and how existing NetSuite records need to be structured before integration flows can be configured. Data mapping defines how fields in Shopify correspond to fields in NetSuite across orders, customers, products, and inventory. Testing validates that data moves correctly under real conditions, including edge cases like variant products, personalization inputs, and supplier-sourced inventory. Most implementations include a stabilization period after launch to catch and resolve sync issues before the client team takes over ongoing management. Timeline and complexity depend on catalog size, personalization requirements, and the number of integration flows needed.

Does Snapshot work with businesses outside of manufacturing and distribution?
Snapshot works with businesses across a range of industries where NetSuite and ecommerce platforms need to work together. Much of Snapshot's client base falls within manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale, but the team has implemented Shopify and NetSuite integrations for retailers with complex catalog and operational requirements comparable to those found in B2B environments. Catalog complexity, personalization requirements, supplier inventory, and connected ERP operations are challenges Snapshot addresses regardless of whether a business sells to consumers or other businesses.
